Chamber Music Tulsa (CMT) strives to make its music accessible to the whole community through its education and outreach programs. By providing such opportunities, Chamber Music Tulsa helps to fulfill its mission to promote understanding and enjoyment of chamber music for audiences of all ages.
The CMT's outreach to Tulsa area schools provides students with the unique opportunity of hearing live chamber music performances in their school or one of the Tulsa City/County Libraries. As a supplement to the students' existing general music education, this program is designed to introduce young listeners to chamber music and to enhance their appreciation for chamber music by bringing each of the renowned musical groups, booked for the CMT's season, to an educational outreach opportunity.
Chamber Music Tulsa believes providing children with frequent exposure to live musical experiences have a significant impact on their musical knowledge and preferences. CMT outreaches take various forms: some are open rehearsal, open to the public and free of charge; some are informances; and some are master classes for advanced students. By bringing music and musicians on a continual basis into their setting, these children learn from an early age that chamber music can be a rewarding and enriching part of their life.
Hosted by knowledgeable experts, these free informative sessions give listeners special insight into the CMT's presentation. The previews are held before the concert in the performance hall.
The Chamber is implementing another exciting format for educational outreach: a multiple presentation by the Council Oak Trio in the Tulsa elementary schools. The program includes printed materials for the classroom teachers to use before and after the presentation, providing educational tools related to the Council Oak Trio performance.
This is at no cost to the schools. The Chamber feels that this will be an effective and meaningful program that will build a relationship with students and teachers by reaching them on a continual basis with multiple visits during the school year.
