Music Among Friends

Greetings!!

I’m always excited to share the upcoming season with our audience. I have
already announced publicly that the Takács Quartet and the Danish String Quartet will return next season. Both ensembles sold out in the Williams Theatre on their last appearances here, and we are all very excited to welcome them back to Tulsa!

To open the season, the Calidore String Quartet makes its Tulsa debut. This young quartet has swept recent awards, including the $100,000 M-Prize, the biggest award in chamber music! We heard them perform in NYC last January and know you will love getting to know these rising stars.

In addition to the Danes, we feature two other groups from Europe. The Meccore Quartet, from Poland, plays repertoire that we’ve never been able to offer on our series before (plus Schumann and Grieg!). Ensemble 4.1, from Germany, is a unique ensemble of clarinet, oboe, bassoon, horn, and piano. You will hear two masterworks by Mozart and Beethoven composed for this distinctive and unusual combination!

Finally, we welcome the Horszowski Piano Trio, an ensemble we’ve been watching for several years. This season, they are offering programs with guest violist Masumi Per Rostad of the Pacifica Quartet (and a brand-new work). We are thrilled to offer both piano trios and piano quartets on the same weekend.

As a non-series offering, we are collaborating with St. John’s Episcopal Church to present Rebel Baroque in a great program of works by Corelli, Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann, and more.

Join me as we enjoy great music among friends!

Cheers,
